Amb. Dr. Florence Edwards is also the Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT) of African Food Spices Producers and Marketers Association. Her capability as a great Manager, Administrator, Business Mogul, a Goal-getter with strong passion in agriculture, has led to her establishing the ‘Turmeric Dealers Association of Nigeria and Spice Dealers Association’ in line with the expansion of Ginger (as Nigeria has the spiciest ginger in the world). Her target is to bring Organic Ginger, Turmeric and other Spices grown in Nigeria to Global Market. Under her leadership, there has been an increased participation in farming as the Association has recorded more registered members in excess of 200,000(Two Hundred thousand) farmers in 33 states of Nigeria with the aim of expanding to all states across the country – (BREAKING THE IDEOLOGY) “ that Ginger can only be grown in the Northern region of Nigeria” but Science has shown that Ginger can be grown anywhere.
Her determination towards enriching and uplifting those in the rural areas, most importantly the grass root Farmers knows no bounds. This has further made her to seek the improvement of Women and Youths in all the regions of Nigeria through Agriculture; with her slogan: “PUTTING A SMILE ON THE FACE OF THE NEEDY IS MY PASSION” and creating a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) WOMEN FARMING WITHOUT BORDERS INITIATIVES (WFWBI) which is aimed at empowering women, especially those in the rural areas to become more proactive and productive as they are mainly Labourers on most Ginger Farms and Processing Sites and Yes, we can help Nigerian women in Agriculture today!
