Women in rural areas in Nigeria form the backbone of the agricultural labour force
Agriculture is the single most important sector of the economy as it employs about 80% of the total workforce. 70% of the female population live in rural areas, where they carry out 60-80% of the agricultural work and furnish up to 50% of the work necessary for household subsistence.

“Women Farming Without Borders Initiative” is a Non-Governmental Organisation that was born out of passion and the need to tackle the rising issues bordering on women labouring in the farm growing from the necessity to make women more productive in their personal and family lives, the NGO has set up means to empower the women especially those in the rural setting also, to become more conscious of their abilities in making sustainable means of living from farming and other menial jobs found in their localities.

HOW WE DO
Our Mission
WFWBI is to work out modalities in getting them empowerment and provide support to help facilitate these women especially those in the rural areas to make them become self-sufficient as they work on Ginger farmlands and other Laboring sites to earn more and ease the hardship they face as being the breadwinners of their families. To assist the women in facilitating their full access to basic and fundamental social requirements especially for their children, such as education and healthcare in order to give them a rest of mind.
Goals And Objectives
To bring awareness of the suffering of women labourers.
To reduce the hardship faced by women labourers especially those in the rural areas that are also the breadwinner for their families.
Training the women on value addition to Ginger and Tumeric and also to help them start trading on the products that they have laboured.
To engage the women in more production, making them self-sufficient in Ginger production.
Providing the women with the basic needs and giving them more access to social and health amenities.
Encourage them to come as a co-operative group to own farmlands and be more productive on Ginger farming for export purposes.
To show more concerns on the women personal welfare and finding means to give them optimum relief from the harsh situation they are faced with.
